Goodyearforroses takes Flaming Page

Previous Chestnut Tree Stables resident Goodyearforroses picked up a valuable win in last Saturday's $105,000 Flaming Page Stakes, at Woodbine.

Now trained and co-owned by Roger Attfield with Lincoln Collins, the four-year-old Azamour bay went to post as the short-priced favourite in the 1m 4f event for older fillies and mares and proved her backers correct with a comfortable success.

Goodyearforroses was bred in Ireland by The Hornets, and ran here under their banner before being transferred to the USA to continue her racing career (when a half-share was sold to new connections) - congratulations go to Eamonn Duggan and Paul Smith, along with the new connections of this promising filly.

Lastman finishes first

Three-year-old colt Lastmanlastround put in a game performance from the front under David Allan to claim the spoils in this afternoon's EBF Maiden Stakes (Class 4) at Thirsk.

The son of Azamour was sent of a short-priced favourite for the 7 furlong event at the Yorkshire track and he duly obliged when making headway in the final stages to stretch clear of his remaining five rivals, after withdrawals at the start.

Unraced at two, he had shown plenty of potential with two promising runs earlier this year, before meeting unsuitable conditions on his latest outing.

Congratulations go to his owners, The Boot Sarratt Racing Syndicate, and to Nasir who looks after him at home.

Noble Act fulfils early promise with win

Noble Act, an attractive three-year-old Kyllachy filly, built on early signs of ability when taking the Rotherby Handicap (Class 6) over 5f at Leicester on Sunday.

After three creditable performances in Maiden company, this was her first start in a handicap race; she was held up in touch in the early stages of the six-runner affair, before being woken up by Paul Hanagan around the halfway marker. The filly picked up nicely in the closing stages to get her head in front when it mattered - a short head being the official winning distance.

Congratulations go to her owner Colin Murfitt, and Steve Davis who looks after her at home.

Miss Osier & Peter Saunders

MISS OSIER's owner, Peter Saunders, popped into the yard this morning to see his filly work and managed to fit in time for a pat in the paddock afterwards...
