Farewell to a good frend

John Wilsoncroft finally called it a day on Friday. He's been a loyal member of the team and good friend to Chestnut Tree Stables. "He was the first person I employed when I started out as a trainer and I couldn't have done it without him". says Rae. "I know it's a cliché, but they don't make them like they used to and John proves that theory. John was a big help to me with his experience of feeding and looking after legs. He taught me so much".

John has been a brilliant stable man and a natural teacher and mentor to the staff. Many have gone on to great things. His abilities and achievements have been recognised by the industry. In 2005 he was a runner up in the Senior Staff category of the Godolphin Stable Staff Awards and then a year later at the HWPA 40th Derby Awards he was joint winner of the Blue Square Stable Staff of the Year Award alongside Clifford Baker.

Later the same year he was presented with The Racing Post's 'Lifetime in Racing' award by Brough Scott who said "Racing will always depend hugely upon the linchpins in the stable. John has been exactly that for years".

He will be greatly missed but we wish him well in his retirement and hope he will drop by regularly and make us all jealous with tales of boat trips and family achievements.

Berry berry good

Berryessa ran a cracking race on her first time out. She was a bit distracted in the stalls and consequently missed the break but soon got into a good stride and had plenty in the tank at the end. This was a great start for her connections Mr & Mrs Perry Martin (California Chrome) who are part of the RGRL Syndicate 2. Perry felt the filly "showed a lot of class at the finish". We look forward to seeing great things in the future from her. #californiachrome @MartinRacingUS

Noble Act back in the placings

Noble Act ran another good race and secured a gutsy third, despite having a bad draw at Lingfield on Saturday in the last race of the day. She was prominent throughout the race and held her pace to the end. Well done to Martin Harley and congratulation to her owner Mr Colin Murfitt.

Launch of new syndicate

Four shares in the new syndicate for 2017 have already been snapped up by our existing owners, leaving only two remaining for sale.   Like the winning model of the successful Reprobates, Chestnuts and Calm Again partnerships, the new syndicate includes three fillies - this time by top two year old sire Kodiac (sire of Tiggy Wiggy), Group 1 winner Frozen Power and Group 1 producer, Intikhab, sire of Snow Fairy and Red Evie.  More details appear on our horses for sale page but if you are interested in taking a share at £5,500 + VAT + £1,000 per month, ring Rae now on 07711 301095 as we expect them to go quickly.

Date for your diary

Many of our owners and friends like to support the Animal Health Trust raceday and we plan to have a table again this year, so here is a save the date for your diaries: 10 June 2017.  There will be a headline music act to be announced.
