Debut win for Ode to Glory

The Reprobates' Poet's Voice filly Ode to Glory ran a great race to get off the mark at Wolverhampton under jockey Martin Dwyer on Saturday night.  For the second time in a week Rae missed a winner due to car problems but hey who cares if they get their heads in front!  Ode to Glory hasn't run a bad race and showed guts and determination to prevail at a rewarding 16-1 to become the yard's first two year old winner of the year.  Well done to everyone concerned with Ode to Glory who continues the good run of the Reprobates!  

Noble Act holds on for second success

Noble Act put her best foot forward in Brighton's last race of the day when taking their five furlong Handicap Stakes with dogged determination.

She jumped well and was ridden prominently throughout under a well-judged ride from Jim Crowley; the filly had several of her competitors make late challenges within the final furlong, but held on to claim the prize by a neck at the line.

A good-looking daughter of Kyllachy, this speedy filly has been lightly raced and we hope that she will continue to do well for connections. 

Congratulations go to her owner, Mr Colin Murfitt, and Steve Davis who looks after her at home.

 

Victory for Vale Of Flight

Vale Of Flight put in a game performance to take the final race on the card at Chelmsford City yesterday, under a front-running ride from Jim Crowley.

The three-year-old daughter of Vale Of York jumped well and was always prominent in the five furlong event; she quickened when asked a question with one furlong to go and held off a late challenge to claim the spoils.  

Congratulations go to her owners; Guy Carstairs, Peter Sakal, Alan Davies and Roger Jennings, and also to Shahzad who looks after the filly at home.

 

Palace House preview evening a great success

On Friday evening (26th August) we welcomed owners and friends to a unique preview evening at Palace House Heritage Site in Newmarket.

Palace House is the culmination of the hard work of three charities – the National Horseracing Museum, the British Sporting Art Trust and the Retraining of Racehorses charity, which have combined to bring this historic site back to life.

After years of meticulous planning, fundraising and construction the site is due to open to the public in September 2016, however we were lucky enough to secure this venue before its official opening. 

It was a brilliant opportunity for owners to catch up with each other and discuss their horses' progress in such beautiful surroundings - thankfully the weather was kind to us and allowed us to spend much of the evening in the Palace gardens.

We all had a very enjoyable evening and thanks have to go to all of our guests and also to both the staff at Palace House and at The Pantry, where we had a delicious post-tour meal.

 

British Racing School training visit

This morning we welcomed Richard Perham from the British Racing School to Chestnut Tree Stables for a session of yard-based rider training. The British Racing School provide this session free of charge and have a mobile facility which enables them to bring their training to individual yards. 

Five members of staff were able to benefit from the visit, where they worked on improving their riding style on the mobile simulator.

The staff involved had a brilliant time and found the experience extremely beneficial - we would like to pass on our thanks to the British Racing School for organising the event, with special thanks to Richard Perham for his enthusiastic and engaging approach!

Charlotte Dziadosz:

"I felt that the training session this morning was very useful - it helped me to work on my style and focus on getting lower in the saddle and being able to push the horse forwards. We had riders of varying levels in the group and Richard was able to tailor the training to each of us individually, which was brilliant!"

Charlotte Clayton:

"It was a really good refresher for me, the instructor was very friendly and engaging and made the whole session very enjoyable! It was good to watch videos back of our riding and assess it together to see where improvements could be made."

Lauren Hall:

"The instructor was very friendly and helped put us at ease, he had some helpful advice on riding skills which I will definitely implement in my riding going forwards. Richard made the whole session easy to understand."
