The songbird sang today

FAUVETTE has been knocking on the door since she arrived being placed in her first three starts with us. Today she got the win only 5 days after getting a second at Newcastle so she may have had a bit more experience but maybe wasn't as fresh as some in the race. Rachel spotted Fauvette at the July Sale this year and Rae bought her for just 4000 gns. The filly has made that (and some) in prize money in her four runs with us. Good shout Rachel!

Our friends the Martins

There was a lovely article in November's edition of the California Thoroughbred Breeder's Association's publication. It features our friends Perry and Denise Martin who owned double winner of Horse of the Year title California Chrome before selling him to Japan to expand his breeding prospects.

We got to know the Martins when they sent California Chrome to us after winning the Dubai World Cup in 2016 in order to prepare for Royal Ascot. It was a real privilege to have him at Chestnut Tree Stables and to develop a relationship with Perry and Denise.

We are looking forward to having one of Chrome's progeny, a filly out of Berryessa, a mare Rae trained in joint ownership with the Martin's. She will travel over next year accompanied by the Martins.

He lands another one

After a great result at Goodwood in a two mile Class 4 Handicap earlier this month, Land of Winter bagged another convincing win today this time at Nottingham in a Class 3 Handicap. Loving the soft ground this good looking 4 year old simply out ran the rest of the field winning comfortably finishing six lengths ahead. This is the third win this month for his owner Paul Smith who has a couple of horses in training with Rae so it's been a good month for him.

Ahead of another lockdown

We were delighted to see Alan Davies before lockdown for his first look at the CHESTNUT TREE SYNDICATE yearlings. He said it felt good to be in Newmarket again and he and Judy enjoyed their first mini break for a few months. We hope to see all the syndicate members at some point once lockdown is lifted.

A good result

AUTUMN TRAIL gets her second win on the all-weather today, this time at Kempton in The Frontline Workers Handicap (Class 5) with Rob Hornby on board. She ran a strong race and had plenty in the tank on the line. She looks a tough filly and she certainly acted tough today. Well done to owner/breeder Paul Smith and to Charlotte Tudor who looks after her at home. A good day!
