Charlie Guest RIP

Rae’s father Charlie died last week peacefully in his sleep aged 92.  Charlie had a long life, well lived and he always had a smile on his face.  He was a jump jockey and then a trainer in Belgium and Holland where he won the Triple Crown on a horse ridden by Rae.   Like Rae, he trained a Listed winner for our own Derek Willis!  Charlie was notoriously eccentric, often turning up on an electric bike or absent mindedly leaving his mobility scooter outside the Pantry in Newmarket where everyone loved him.  Racing and family were his whole life and he was incredibly proud of the racing successes of his children and extended family.  His children Rae, Rita, Jane, Sally, Joanne and Richard are sad to lose him but enjoy remembering him and everyone has a story of his antics.  When crowds are allowed back on the racecourse the family plan to celebrate his life.

Rather than sending flowers, please make a donation in Charlie's memory to Racing Welfare.

Our Racing Secretary was a bit excited last night after being the successful bidder on ROMAN SPINNER, one of our yard favourites. The filly went through the virtual ring yesterday at Tattersalls. She is a 5-time winner and has been trained by Rae since he purchased her as a yearling for the Reprobates Too Syndicate in 2016. ROMAN SPINNER has been a great servant to us and the owners. Everyone, especially the staff at Chestnut Tree Stables, are thrilled to see her go to a lovely home and hopefully enjoy a successful breeding career.

Here at Rae Guest Racing we always aim to give our owners and syndicate members a great experience. Although it's what we aim for, it's not just about winning races. We like to keep owners in touch with their horses - especially now when they can't visit - through regular updates and videos. In 2019, we had monthly events and regular mornings on the galops with Rae to enhance the experience. We hope we can get back to organising them again this year when the pandemic is under control.

Members of the Bucket List Syndicate 2019 shared their experience on Twitter recently saying "Rae Guest Racing were absolutely fantastic in 2019 in Kachumba's syndicate that myself and a couple of others took part in. I've never felt as close to racing as that and the four of us loved it. Was the best experience and Rae, Ross and Lulu were amazing". Really lovely to get this kind of feedback - Thanks Tom.
