A double at Kempton

We had two winners yesterday at Kempton. The always consistent Roman Spinner achieved a 3rd win at this course (she's had two seconds here as well) in the 6:30 for The Reprobates Too. This was the first time for her over a mile and she was text book.

We then had Wallflower in division 1 of the last race of the evening at 7:30. She took the lead early and never looked like she would be challenged finishing 8 lengths clear of the runner up. The winning distance was probably a bit flattering but she has been knocking on the door and we were thrilled for owner Paul Smith who shares this filly with Rae.

Well done to Lauren who looks after both the fillies and Martin Harley who gave them a great ride.

Celebrations all round!

It was a successful afternoon for Chestnut Tree Stable’s connections at Tattersalls Book 2 Yearling Sales yesterday. BB Bloodstock (Val Beeson, Lynn Lambert & Stephen Russell) who are all individual owners at Rae Guest Racing, took their first yearling to the sales, consigned by Houghton Bloodstock. This good-looking colt by Zoffany out of Bahia Breeze sold for 240,000gns which was unexpected. Having all been part owners of Bahia Breeze when she was in training with Rae, he reacquired her for the group in foal with this colt in December 2016. Since then she has been at Colin Murfitt’s Pantile Stud near Newmarket (another one of our owners) brilliantly cared for by Bo Hicks-Little and has since produced a filly foal by Twilight Son and has one in utero by Nathaniel.

Then Derek Willis’ Cape Factor 1st foal he sold last year for 120,000gns sold for 200,000gns. He still owns the mare and sibling and they are all at Pantile Stud too.

A hat trick for Nellie

Another win at Chelmsford yesterday made it three on the trot and a four wins in total for Dame Nellie. This time she stepped up to 1m 6f and made light work of it despite not having the clearest of runs. As usual, she came from the back of the pack and with a bit of clever manoeuvring from Oisin Murphy to find clear ground she cruised past the field to win convincingly.

Congratulations to her owner and breeder Kirsten Rausing and to Lauren Hall who has always ridden her out and looked after her at home.

What a week at Kempton!

The yard was buzzing this week with a double on Monday and another win and a second on Tuesday ALL at Kempton. The horses are in good form!

DAME NELLIE got her third win for Kirsten Rausing and Lanwades, doing it very professionally this time under Oisin Murphy. We also had a more recent arrival, THISTIMELASTYEAR, get her first win for The Storm Again Syndicate with Fran Berry on board.

Very pleasing for Rae was our promising 2 year old DUPIONI who on her debut put in an impressive performance to comfortably win the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes on the Monday. Shane Kelly gave her a lovely ride and her owner/breeder Anthony Rogers at Airlie Stud was thrilled.

Hugo wins the NOW Hack Class 2018

As part of the Newmarket Open Weekend (NOW), showcasing Racing's Headquarters to the public, Palace House and the ROR (Retraining of Racehorses) organised the annual Hack Class at the National Heritage Centre. John Sharp of Sharp Nutrition judged a good entry for the class which consisted of both thoroughbred and non-thoroughbred hacks. All had to be resident in a Newmarket trainer's yard.

We were thrilled that our very own HUGO, ridden by Rae's wife Rachel, won the non-thoroughbred class and here he is accepting his prize. GO HUGO!!!
