Alice Rose makes all at Yarmouth

Alice Rose, a four year old chestnut filly by Manduro led from pillar to post this afternoon at Yarmouth to score in decisive fashion under Nicky Mackay.  This likeable filly is owned by Oliver Lury (who together with his family have had horses with the yard for years), and ran some gallant races in defeat as a two and three year old before having a wind operation at the end of last season.  Congratulations go to Oliver and to Farman Ali who looks after her and rides her at home.

How's Life makes it two from two

How's Life, a French bred filly owned by Mr J.H. Metzger (the same owner as Secret of Success) made the long journey to Beverley a worthwhile one to score a four and a half length success in fairly decisive fashion.  How's Life is a filly whom Rae has always thought highly of and her next target could well be the French 1000 Guineas in a little over three weeks time.

Congratulations go to Hollie Smith who looks after How's Life; Fran Ferris (pictured right) and Stevie Donohoe who have ridden her much of the time.

First Experience feature on Own1.co.uk

An initiative of Great British Racing, the marketing and promotions arm of the British Horseracing Authority sees a feature on their website involving the newly and rather appropriately named 'First Experience' a two year old filly in training with us.  Bought by Rae at the December Yearling Sale and a daughter of popular second season Sire Tamayuz, there is still 50% of her available for sale.

Secret of Success makes it two from two

Mr Metzger's Secret of Success scored a second rather cozy win at Kempton this evening under jockey Chris Catlin, taking the yard to four winners for the year.  Secret of Success is a filly who likes to get on with it and she found the drop back to five furlongs no problem.  Well done to Sunny who led her up and Fran Ferris who rides her at home.

Great first win for Back on the Trail

This evening at Wolverhampton Back on the Trail became Paul and Paula Smith's first home bred winner under jockey Luke Morris.  The Singspiel gelding out of Paul and Paula's Boleyna was backward last year and was not rushed.  He has done nothing but improve with racing and this narrow success was well deserved.  Well done to Paul and Paula - this was the first horse that they have bred themselves and he has done them proud.
