Dame Nellie gets off the mark

It was great to see Dame Nellie's success on Saturday in the 6:40 at Lingfield, not least to reward our long-standing owner Kirsten Rausing's patience, and also Rae and the Team's hard work overcoming the filly's idiosyncrasies; something Rae is renowned for. Congratulations also go Lauren Hall, Dame Nellie's groom, who rides her out everyday and has developed a special relationship with this complex character. She was very proud and a bit emotional.

Despite another poor start, Dame Nellie did everything else right. Considering the painfully slow pace of the race and getting blocked in, Nellie quickened nicely when she found the gap to win by half a length.
