Horses in Training - Older Horses

Aramis Grey

4 g f Gutaifan – Sveva (Danehill Dancer)

(The Musketeers)

She is such a pretty filly, a real ladies’ horse - a striking grey with a white blaze and an early birthday.  She is from the first crop of speedy 2 year old Gutaifan, the winner of the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin, her dam is three winners from 3 runners and is closely related to sire Intikhab. She has been very consistent this year being place 3 times and now a win at Lingfield (07/09/20). She will have a break now until next year.

Arriviste

4 b f Sea The Moon – Apparatchika (Archipenko)

(Miss Kirsten Rausing)

By the German Derby winner who has done so well in his first year at stud, with 38% winners to two year old runners, this one is a rangy filly out of another mare that Rae trained for Kirsten to win two races in 2015.  She had her first three runs at the later end of last year winning third time out on the all-weather at Chelmsford in December. She has run well this year mainly in Group and Listed company in the UK and France. We look forward to having her back next year as a 4 year old.

Cape Sunset

4 b g 2017 Gutaifan – Cape Factor (Oratorio)

(Mr Derek Willis)

This strong, good looking colt is out of former stable star Cape Factor and was sold to Shadwell as a yearling.  He came back to the July horses in training sale in 2020 unraced by trainer Owen Burrows as a result of a few niggly problems and was bought back by his breeder Derek Willis.  He joins his year younger brother Cape Columbus in the yard.

Capla Berry

4 b f Roderic O'Connor x Salsa Brava (Almutawakel)

(Strawberry Fields Stud )

This filly is out of Salsa Brava, placed second in both the Lowther Stakes and Cherry Hinton Stakes at two, by Roderic O’Connor who was himself a Group 1 winner at 2 and won Irish 2,000 Guineas at 3 and by the all-conquering Galileo.  She is home bred at Strawberry Fields Stud and so far is only lightly raced but this season has had two from two already.

Cry Havoc

4 b f War Command – Na Zdorovie (Cockney Rebel)

(The Musketeers)

This strong looking filly is by Coventry and Dewhurst winner War Command who has a very creditable 44% winners to runners rate from his first crop in 2018. She is The Musketeers first runner. She is now a winning filly from her second run at Kempton (20/11/19). She had a little break earlier in the year and has come back fighting with a win at Chelmsford (09/06/20) in the first 2 weeks after racing was resumed and a Class 2 Handicap at Chelmsford (14/09/20) and has been placed twice (once on turf in a Class 2 at Newmarket). She is having a break now until next year.

Good Reason

4 gr f 2017 Dark Angel – Sander Camillo (Dixie Union)

(The Good Reason Partners)

This attractive filly is out of Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes winner Sander Camillo by top sire Dark Angel and was trained by Saeed Bin Suroor at two, before making an unsuccessful trip to Dubai during the winter.  She was bought from Godolphin at the July sales and is a welcome addition to the team.

Fauvette

4 gr f 2017 Dark Angel – Falsafa (Dansili)

(Rae Guest and Rachel Flynn)

Another big, good looking filly by proven Group 1 sire Dark Angel, she was home bred by Shadwell out of a young Dansili mare from the immediate family of Group 3 Fred Darling winner Muthabara.  She has been in training with Brian Meehan and we picked her up from the July sales for small money. She has had four runs now and been placed three times and won her last outing at Kempton (25/11/20). She will have a break now until next year.

Land of Winter

4 b g Camelot – Gaselee (Toccet)

(Mr Paul Smith & Rae Guest)

Another by high class Derby winner Camelot, this good looking horse is the last foal of his dam Gaselee.  She was a winner and Listed fourth for Rae and was from the good Niarchos family of Group 1 winners Hernando and Johann Quatz. Land of Winter has matured and is panning out to be a useful distance horse. He has won and been placed three times at 1m 3f to 2m 1f.

Mr Millarcky

5 b g Equiano - Fatal Attraction (Oasis Dream)

(Mr Chris Mills)

A four year old gelding bred by Chris Mills, originally bought for Hong Kong as a foal for 68,000 guineas and shrewdly (we all hope) bought back by Robbie Mills for 6,500 guineas in July 2019.  He is a strong bay typical of the Acclamation line of his sire Equiano and a full sister to multiple winner Entertaining Ben out of a full sister to former stable star Mirza.  It has been great to have another representative of this family which Rae knows so well. He keeps improving and has now won three races on the bounce.

Performance Poet

4 ch f Poet’s Voice – Winifred Jo (Bahamian Bounty)

(Mr Colin Joseph)

This is a really big good looking filly whose size has meant she has been late coming in.  We are delighted to have her as she is a half sister to our own Show Stealer and has been acquired by Show Stealer’s owner Colin Joseph.  Show Stealer has been a star for the yard, winning nine races and earning herself over £147,000 in prize money.  She's made a good impression with her first few runs so watch this space!

Roman Spinner

6 Ch f Intikhab x Pompeia (Singspiel)

(Reprobates Too Syndicate)

This attractive filly was the first foal of her dam, a two year old winner by Singspiel who was rated 80 and is a half sister to two small black type horses. Intikhab is a proven high class sire, most notably of multiple Group 1 winning fillies Red Evie and Snow Fairy. She is a real genuine type and always gives her all. She has 5 wins and numerous places. In fact, she has a 50% strike rate for being placed in the top three during her career so far.

Rosa Gold

4 b f Havana Gold – Rosa Grace (Lomitas)

(Mr Eamonn Duggan)

We are delighted to have this filly out of our former stable star Rosa Grace (on the Wall of Fame as the winner of the Listed Ballymacoll Stakes) in the yard.  She is by Group 1 winning miler Havana Gold who made a good impression with his first crop including Group winning two year olds Havana Grey and Treasuring. She ran twice as a 2 year old but it wasn't until this year that she looked like a racehorse winning three on the bounce this summer. She is on holiday now and we look forward to her coming back in the New Year.

Shemsa

4 b f Siyouni – Shemima (Dalakhani)

(Kirsten Rausing)

This filly was bought from France by owner/breeder Kirsten Rausing after three unsuccessful runs in 2020 for Mikael Delzangles.  She is very well related being by top French stallion Siyouni (sire of Arc winner Sotsass) out of a Group 3 winner from a strong Aga Khan family with which Kirsten has been involved for a very long time.  The aim is to win a race if possible.

Squelch

5 b f Dark Angel - Blancmange (Montjeu)

(Purple & Yellow)

She is a twice raced three year old filly bought out of William Haggas’s yard in Tattersalls July sales for Purple & Yellow Syndicate. By top stallion Dark Angel out of a Montjeu mare. She had a couple of promising runs with us last year but is another one of our older horses that have come in to her own with three from three so far this year. She will have the winter off and brought back for the 2021 turf season.

Zarrar

6 g b Thewayyouare – Featherlight (Fantastic Light)

(Miss Vicky Markowiak)

A big good looking four year old, originally trained by Brendan Powell to three wins at a mile and a half in 2018 but he has been out of form in 2019. He is a half-sister to the lovely Fashionesque who is a winner and very consistent for us in 2019. He has had a bit of a break and came back firing on all cylinders with a win over hurdles at Plumpton in September and placed three times since then also over hurdles. He is entered for a couple of flat races on the all-weather now. Keeps it interesting!
