Horses in Training - Older Horses

Fen Breeze

4 br f Bated Breath – Ruffled (Harlan’s Holiday)

(Mr Colin Murfitt)

Another one by high class sprinter Bated Breath, from the good Juddmonte family of Group 3 winner Mirabilis.  Colin Murfitt bought Ruffled at the 2013 December sales, Rae won with her before she was covered and now he has successfully trained her daughter. This is her first season on the track and she has a win and a second so far. We are excited to see what else she can achieve.

Land of Winter

4 b g Camelot – Gaselee (Toccet)

(Mr Paul Smith & Rae Guest)

Another by high class Derby winner Camelot, this good looking horse is the last foal of his dam Gaselee.  She was a winner and Listed fourth for Rae and was from the good Niarchos family of Group 1 winners Hernando and Johann Quatz. Land of Winter has matured and is panning out to be a useful distance horse. He has won and been placed three times at 1m 3f to 2m 1f.

Capla Berry

4 b f Roderic O'Connor x Salsa Brava (Almutawakel)

(Strawberry Fields Stud )

This filly is out of Salsa Brava, placed second in both the Lowther Stakes and Cherry Hinton Stakes at two, by Roderic O’Connor who was himself a Group 1 winner at 2 and won Irish 2,000 Guineas at 3 and by the all-conquering Galileo.  She is home bred at Strawberry Fields Stud and so far is only lightly raced.

Fashionesque

4 b f Fast Company – Featherlight (Fantastic Light)

(Miss Victoria Markowiak)

This attractive filly came into training late as a two year old, she is by Fast Company, a lightly raced top-class 2yo who is proving a good source of speed and is the sire of Group 1 classic winner Jet Setting.  This filly has not disappointed, breaking her maiden on her second outing. Delighted for owner/breeder who has dreamt of having a winner from a home bred. This is hopefully just the beginning Vicky!

Squelch

4 b f Dark Angel - Blancmange (Montjeu)

(Purple & Yellow)

She is a twice raced three year old filly bought out of William Haggas’s yard in Tattersalls July sales for Purple & Yellow Syndicate. By top stallion Dark Angel out of a Montjeu mare she is an interesting new recruit and it is early days but she is settling in well and has had a couple of promising runs with us.

Mr Millarcky

4 b g Equiano - Fatal Attraction (Oasis Dream)

(Mr Chris Mills)

A three year old gelding bred by Chris Mills, originally bought for Hong Kong as a foal for 68,000 guineas and shrewdly (we all hope) bought back by Robbie Mills for 6,500 guineas in July.  He is a strong bay typical of the Acclamation line of his sire Equiano and a full sister to multiple winner Entertaining Ben out of a full sister to former stable star Mirza. Great to have another representative of this family which Rae knows so well.

Alaskan Bay

5 b f Kodiac x Party Appeal (Mr Greeley)

(Peter Sakal)

By Kodiac, the sire of the bijou Tiggy Wiggy and a consistent producer of early 2 year olds, this is a good moving filly who is a late foal and so a touch on the small side. She is out of a Mr Greeley mare who is closely related to Flying Childers winner and stallion Zebedee. She has been a very consistent little horse winning twice and frequently in the mix.

Roman Spinner

5 Ch f Intikhab x Pompeia (Singspiel)

(Reprobates Too Syndicate)

This attractive filly was the first foal of her dam, a two year old winner by Singspiel who was rated 80 and is a half sister to two small black type horses. Intikhab is a proven high class sire, most notably of multiple Group 1 winning fillies Red Evie and Snow Fairy. She is a real genuine type and always gives her all. She got her 4th careers win recently when charging down the outside from well off the pace to win her first race away from Kempton.

Zarrar

5 g b Thewayyouare – Featherlight (Fantastic Light)

(Miss Vicky Markowiak)

A big good looking four year old, originally trained by Brendan Powell to three wins at a mile and a half in 2018 but he has been out of form in 2019.  Owner Vicky Markoviak hopes that a change of scenery will help him recapture his form.  He is a half-sister to the lovely Fashionesque who was a winner and very consistent for us in 2019 so we hope he likes it here as much as she evidently does.
