Horses in Training - Older Horses

Mirza

11 b g Oasis Dream x Millyant (Primo Dominie)

(Mr Chris Mills)

Mirza is the stable star.  He is such a character and is also a real class racehorse excelling on flat tracks at five furlongs. He particularly likes Longchamp where he emulated his dam by winning the Group 3 Prix de Petit Couvert in successive years. He won another Listed race in 2015 and a great race to be beaten only three lengths in the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye.

Show Stealer

5 ch f Showcasing x Winifred Jo (Bahamian Bounty)

(Mr Colin Joseph)

This compact and stocky filly was bought by Dwayne Woods as agent for Colin Joseph from the breeze up sales from Paddy Twomey, the breeder of Serious Attitude.  She did incredibly well at two, winning twice and never running a bad race - she has followed this up at three with a faultless start when winning a Class 2 race at Newmarket.

Defining Moment

4 b f Camacho x Elfine (Invincible Spirit)

(Mr Derek Willis)

This good looking filly is a half-sister to the yard's Gomez, who has made a good start to his racing career - both are out of Elfine; an Invincible Spirit half sister to Headline News who did very well for Rae.

Midnightly

4 b f Acclamation x Midnight Shift (Night Shift)

(Bradmill Ltd)

This compact filly is home bred by Chris and Lesley Mills from a family Rae knows well, having trained the dam and five of her siblings to win, most notably Group 3 and Listed winner Miss Anabaa and Mina, the dam of Listed winner and Ayr Gold Cup second Mina Lisa.  Let us hope she can emulate them!

The Eagle's Nest

4 ch g Lope De Vega x Follow My Lead (Night Shift)

(The Eagle Has Landed Syndicate)

Bought from the Horses in Training sales out of Richard Fahey’s yard for a new syndicate, he ran 8 times in 2017 at distances between 7 furlongs and 1 mile 2 and has a BHA rating of 73.  He looks a sound horse and Rae was delighted to get him for his new owners to have a bit of fun with.

Berryessa

4 b f Dandy Man - Carrauntoohil (Marju)

(RGRL Syndicate 2)

A sharp looking filly by good source of fast two year olds Dandy Man, the sire of among others Extortionist, leading Hong Kong sprinter Peniaphobia and top class Squats, she is from the family of Tagshira, the joint champion two year old in Germany in 2010.

Salt Whistle Bay

4 b c Royal Applause - Quantum (Alhaarth)

(Mr & Mrs J Worboys & Rae Guest)

A good looking colt by the reliable Royal Applause (sire of our own Mimic and After the Show, also Acclamation), this one is from a great – and very current – female family.  He is a brother to a number of highly rated horses from the immediate family of Power (Irish 2,000 Guineas winner) and Curvy (E P Taylor and Ribblesdale Stakes 2015) and the Hascombe family of Footstepsinthesand.

Woosh

4 b f Nathaniel - Daniella (Dansili)

Brian & Elaine Cooper

This compact filly is from the first crop of Nathaniel, a superbly bred son of Galileo who won the Coral Eclipse and was the World Champion three year old in 2011. She is out of our own Daniella, a really fast filly who proved tough and durable and was a great character. Welcome back to Brian and Elaine Cooper.
